Me!

Me!

This blog is written by me, Pam Baumgardner; I’m also known as Stephanie Rose in many circles.  As Stephanie Rose, I had a radio career which spanned nearly 15 years first in Orange County at KEZY/KPZE, and then I moved up to Ventura to work overnights at KZTR, and then on to KXBS (96.7 The Bus).  It was at KXBS that I helped the station to transition from Oldies to Alternative Rock and where I earned my Program Director stripes.

The day after the station was sold and went Spanish radio, and again as Stephanie Rose, I helped launch www.Buzzine.com which was one of the first music and entertainment websites back in 1997.  As Vice-President and Editor-in-Chief, the company would eventually publish four print issues which were distributed across the United States and in Canada in supermarkets, airports and newsstands.  The website was eventually owned by Richard Elfman (yes, Danny’s brother, and Jenna’s father-in-law), but as of a few years ago, went out of business.

Currently I work several jobs, one of which is creating websites including my personal site www.pambaumgardner.com and www.VenturaRocks.com which supports the music scene in my town of Ventura, CA.

So my first love is music, then radio.  At Buzzine, I had to write and copy edit for the magazine.  I never enjoyed writing in college, but I got the basics down, which I’m thankful for.  But over the past few years, I’ve found that I’ve been compelled to write.  It started with short, really short stories about my past. I’ve continued to write stories, not many published or shared for that matter with my friends; but I have found I really enjoy writing.

Then on Facebook late last year, I had a number of things I wanted to share with my friends and so I listed them out and I just simply called it, “A Couple of Things…”.  And so it started.  Then my old friend John Vance from KZTR commented that I should start a blog, and I took his advice, and here we are.

It’s therapeutic as it takes my thoughts out of my head, and frees up that much needed space for handling life.

Thanks for reading.  I hope you enjoy!
