1. WE DID IT! As of November 1, Ventura is now the third place EVER in the State of California to have sea turtles lay eggs on its beaches! I mentioned previously when eggs were laid down south in Seal Beach then in Huntington Beach this past September how cool it would be if they made it up here…well they’re here! Unlike the first two nests, there are currently no plans to relocate them. Incubation period is anywhere from 45 – 60 days so we could have Christmas turtles hatching on our beaches this year.
2. I’ve been thinking of traveling a bit more for 2027. Maybe the Galapagos, maybe Ireland, but definitely Las Vegas to see Collective Soul in February. We may have missed our window to book a trip for this coming spring to go see penguins in the Galapagos, but as God as my witness, I will see them.
3. I caught a screening of You Can See Everything, the metadocumentary about Elizabeth Holmes and partner Billy Evans which begins 34 days before she is sent to prison. There is so much going on that any mention could be a “spoil-alert” so I won’t go there. But I really didn’t think I would get much out of it, but I did. I was rivited, I was surprised, I had empathy, I was furious, and most of all I was impressed by the filmmakers themselves, Nathan Fielder (The Rehearsal) and Lance Oppenheim (Primetime). I’m looking forward to discussing with anyone who sees it…all 2 hours and 54 minutes of it.
By the way, A metadocumentary is a type of documentary that self-consciously reflects on its own filmmaking process, often highlighting the presence of the filmmaker and the act of documenting itself. This genre blurs the lines between reality and representation, engaging viewers in a more interactive experience.
Also, as a side note, Holmes’ eyes relax when wearing glasses (which she does when going to prison), but with contacts, they’re wide open.

4. My daughter Sydney Rose stayed in Portland while her partner, Nate came down to go camping on Anacapa. I was his car service for both the Santa Barbara airport as well as the Ventura Harbor. You can see Nate in red cap disembarking from his Island Packers boat.
He had perfect timing and perfect weather for this trip as it was severely windy leading up to his visit, and then stormy after he left. It was nice to get to know him, I believe they’ve been an item coming up on two years now.
THEN…a little over a week later I had an impromptu visit from my daughter, Sydney Rose! She was attending a concert downtown LA, and I helped out with a ride and place to stay. So great to see her!

5. One of my favorite 90s bands has been making the circuit lately, so I secured tickets to see Everclear at the Bellwether in Downtown Los Angeles. Art Alexakis sounded great as did the whole band. I didn’t realize that Art has been living with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis for the past ten years or so. This is the same disease portrayed by President Jed Bartlett on the West Wing. After digging in online, I found this: He realized he had been experiencing symptoms since his 20s — including balance problems, fatigue, unusual skin sensations, and occasional arm weakness — but these were often misattributed to other issues. The diagnosis came after a car accident that revealed lesions in his brain and spine. Damn. Love that he’s not letting him slow down…too much.
6. Is $9.00 for a Coors Lite too much at a bar? Or for that matter, $19 for a lemondrop martini?
Unapologetically, the answer is YES!!! You would think this is rhetorical, but I was charged these rates in the past week or so at two different venues in Ventura, not New York City.
For sure, money is budgeted and and I’m sure a lot of people can’t go out as much as they would like because of these rates.

7. Having worked a bit with his brother Miles Copeland around the turn of the century and being a huge fan of the band, The Police, I thought I would get myself a ticket and see what Stewart had to say. Things I found interesting: his father was a spy and was there at the beginning of the CIA (which I already knew) but I learned that he grew up in Lebanon from age 2 months to 18 years. It was also interesting about how the Police came together and his life post Police doing scoring and operas. I have to admit his entrance and speaking style were very awkward, in fact the people next to me left at the break. I don’t blame them, but I am glad I stuck around for the second half.

8. I am at my wit’s end with the hosting platform GoDaddy. Orignally, it was very affordable to host a website at $100 a year for hosting and $20 for a domain name. Not only are those days gone, but every single phone call they try to up-sell you…and previously you could call and get an answer on what all of a sudden went wrong with your website, but now you have to pay for someone to look into it and fix it.
I get needing to keep profits up, but this is ridiculous. It’s time to look at other hosting options. #TskTsk #GoDaddy
9. I would totally get tickets to see Dead Man’s Bones, a band fronted by actor Ryan Gosling. The band was formed years ago with their debut album coming out in 2009 and they just released their first single in 17 years called, “Lost in the Night.” The thing I love most about Ryan is his non-ability to keep a straight face while doing sketch comedy.
10. I recently posted on Facebook about my learning experience with American Airlines. Because I went economy fare, I was not given a refund, but I was given credit, which I agreed was fair, but they did not refund/credit my seat choices which after all was said and done was about $150 dollars. Yes I was annoyed so I shared this and the response was quite interesting. People I knew were polite, but there were a dozen or so that were quite rude. I did a little digging and 90% of those posts were from pages that were obviously trying to hide who the person was. Fake photos, no posts, etc….
So I promptly blocked and deleted said posts. I also learned that FB gives you the option of only allowing people who follow one’s profile for more than 24 hours and friends.
So, I learned two lessons! Don’t fly AA and chose who can comment on FB.

Thanks for listening!
